Food inflation in Russia has exceeded the rise in prices in the EU 33 times

For the first three quarters of 2015 food products in Russia grew by 9.9%. This is according to Rosstat, published October 23.Thus, food inflation in Russia turned out to be 33 times higher than in the EU. In January-September the growth of food prices in the EU was only 0.3%.In Rosstat noted that in the first nine months of 2015, the highest growth of the Russian Federation fruit - by 24.8%. For comparison, in the EU fruit in the same period rose by 4.5%.


Prices of meat and meat products in Russia for the first three quarters rose by 7.7%, while in the EU - fell by 0.9%. Dairy products, cheese and eggs in the Russian Federation rose by 5.2%, while in the EU - fell by 2.9%. Sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and sweets in Russia rose by 20.1% (in the EU - 0.9%), fish and seafood - by 19.2% (in the EU - 0.9%), oil fats - by 16.5% (in the EU - 2.7%).Since early August 2014 in the Russian embargo on deliveries of a number of products (including meat, fish and dairy products, and fruits and vegetables) from the states previously to impose sanctions on Russia. In June 2015 the government approved the extension of the embargo to the grocery August 5, 2016. Against the background of the embargo in Russia began to rise prices. As a result, since August last year, the growth in food prices in the country has become a double-digit, and for the year was 16.7%.On the whole, inflation in Russia in 2014 reached 11.4%, the highest since the crisis in 2008. Since the beginning of 2015 until 19 October price increases in the country, according to Rosstat, was 10.9%.
